Frequently Asked Questions

What is AlumBiz.com?

AlumBiz.com is an online directory of businesses, business owners and business people organized by their alma mater.

How is AlumBiz.com different from the other networking sites out there?

Basically, AlumBiz.com allows its users to advertise their businesses and careers under the banner of their alma mater(s). Most people have very strong feelings of attachment for the schools which they attended. They also feel close (in an almost indescribable way) to those who attended these schools as well, even if they were not there at the same time.

AlumBiz.com lets you see what your fellow grads, as well as grads of many other schools, are doing. You do not have to be an alum of a particular school to see what grads of that school are up to. Therefore, you can keep up with the careers of friends who may have gone to a different college or grad school. This information is now in one place, in one neat package.

The best thing is that you decide how you want to use this information and how you would like to participate in AlumBiz.com. The site can be a tool for serious business to get done, or can serve as a meeting place for long-lost friends to re-connect and re-establish friendships.

What if I don't see my school listed?

No problem. During the registration process, you can add your school to our growing list.  There is also the added bonus of being the first registered alum from your school which will give you the place of honor in the upper left-hand corner of your school's AlumMosaic page and/or BizMosaic page.

What if I didn't go to or graduate from college?

No problem. We at AlumBiz.com realize that there have been plenty of incredible success stories from business people who did not attend or graduate from college. Microsoft and Dell jump to mind immediately. We also realize that there are many people, who for one reason or another, did not have college as an option. We did not want to leave these people out. We have created a "College Was Not For Me" page which allows non-grads to have the same types of listings as grads and participate fully in the AlumBiz.com community.

What if I don't want to list all my degrees?

No problem. Since you create your own profile on AlumBiz.com, you control where your information is displayed. AlumBiz.com will only verify the information that you send through so if you don't particularly want to be listed with your undergrad school, but want to be listed with your grad school, you can. It's up to you.

Why does verifying my degree cost money?

We thought long and hard about charging for verifying degrees. We all know that there is lots of great stuff available on the internet for nothing. However, we decided to institute a small charge for two reasons. First, it covers the costs of contacting your alma mater to make sure that you are in fact a graduate of the school you claim to be. This has the benefit of instilling confidence in the AlumBiz community that people are who they claim to be. Second, we feel that the cost, even though it is small, will deter those who would clog the site with tons of worthless listings. The small financial penalty for abusing the system will work wonders in keeping the site clean.
